On 22 Septemeber 2015, to celebrate Niko Samadashvili’s 110th Anniversary, the garden of Writers’ House hosted the commemorative evening of the poet. Niko Samadashvili’s works were discussed by folklorist and literary critic Zurab Kiknadze, while his poems were read by Lia Sturua, Givi Shahnazar, Manana Gharibashvili, Rati Amaghlobeli, Shota Iatashvili, Giorgi Lobzhanidze, Lela Samniashvili, Gaga Nakhutsrishvili, Vaso Guleuri, Diana Anfimiadi, Kato Javakhishvili, and Paata Shamugia.
Niko Samadashvili died on 1 May 1953 of heart attack. The poet had been charged twice as a “dangerous subject for community” in 1943 and in 1947. In his lifetime, his poetry was known only to a very small group of his friends and colleagues, and his poems were published only posthumously, four years after his death, when Revaz Tvaradze became the editor-in-chief of The Literary Georgia. His collection of poems, Betania, was first printed in 1973 by Merani Publishing. At that time, Niko Samadashvili had been 10 years deceased.
