In relation to the 150th Anniversary of Ekvtime Takaishvili, under the aegis of the Ministry of Culture and Monument Protection of Georgia, UNESCO declared the year of 2013 as the Anniversary Year of Ekvtime Takaishvili.
To commemorate this date, on December24-26th, 2013 with cooperation of Writers’ House and Georgian National Centre of Manuscripts an exhibition in memory of Ekvtime Takaishvili’s was held.
The exhibition was dedicated to the love story of Ekvtime Takaishvili and his wife Nino Poltorotskaya. For 36 years Nino Poltorotskaya stood by her husband’s side and tried to free him everyday household duties and allow him to spend all his time and energy on his scientific and public work.
The exhibition displayed archive materials of Ekvtime Takaishvili, his letters to wife Nino Poltoratskaya, their photos, Ekvtime’s letters to Irodion Songhulashvili, Nino Poltorotskaya’s personal diary, also her handmade canvas and many other interesting items.
