Litera Literary Award was founded by Georgian the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport and Writers’ House in 2015, and since that time, it has been awarded in the following categories:
Best Collection of Prose Works of the Year
Best Novel of the Year
Best Poetry Collection of the Year
Best Documentary Prose of the Year
Best Book Cover Design of the Year
Best Debut of the Year
Since the foundation of Litera Literary Award, the panel of judges has already discussed 331 applications for the competition, and, at various times, the judges included: Shota Iatashvili, Manana Kvachantiradze, Manana Dumbadze, Teona Bekishvili, Khatuna Tskhadadze, Bela Tsipuria, Ana Kordzaia-Samadashvili, Levan Berdzenishvili, Paata Shamugia, Giorgi Lobzhanidze, Levan Bregadze, Davit Tserediani, Levan Tsagareli, Nino Sadghobelashvili and Irakli Lomouri. Prize money of the Award amounts to 5000 GEL, and, between 2016 and 2018, overall amount of 18 awards and 80 000 GEL of monetary prize were granted to various authors.
