The award "Litera for Translators" was created in 2020 with the financial support of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Georgia and the initiative of the Writers' House.
The changing of the rule for conducting the contest (the rule for staffing the jury) according to the decree N00007864 (03.06.2021) issued by the Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth Affairs of Georgia, was followed by a protest writers, literary scholars and publishers, making the implementation of Litera impossible.
The literary award "Litera" and translation award "Litera for Translators" is funded by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth Affairs, within the frames of the program "Promoting culture" approved by the Ministry, as a unified project and the Ministry's position is to review the implementation of both awards in unified manner. Accordingly, the literary award "Litera for Translators 2021" cannot be held.
The Writers' House hopes to succesfully implement both projects next year.
