On October 29, the Writers' House launched Tbilisi International Festival of Literature digitally. The festival will digitally present to the public several participants of the 6th Tbilisi International Festival of Literature in the format of video discussions.
The guest of the first video discussion was Heike Fiedler - writer, poet and sound artist Switzerland, on the topic "Poetry, Electroacoustics, Performance". Moderator of the meeting - translator Bachana Chabradze.
In October-December 2020, the Writers' House will present the following video discussions in digital format as part of Tbilisi International Festival of Literature:
• Belarusian poet Yulia Timofeeva. Discussion moderator - Paata Shamugia. Topic: Author's poetry work, activism and contemporary literature in Belarus.
• Argentine writer Ariana Harwitz. Discussion moderator - Nino Pipia. Topic: Overview of the main themes of the author's work, the novel "Die, My Love". (The book was translated into Georgian by Tamar Lezhava).
• American science fiction writer Blake Crouch. Discussion moderator - Zaza Koshkadze. Topic: The current reality of the world and the response of literature to it - science fiction; Writer's novel "Dark Matter" (the book was translated into Georgian by Alexi Siukaev).
Discussion "Poetry Now" with the participation of American poets: Michael Palmer and Charles Bernstein. Moderator: Paata Shamugia. Topic: Retrospective of Tbilisi International Festivals of Literature 2018-2019; The actuality of poetry today, in parallel with the pandemic and the 2020 Nobel Prize.
TIFL Digital - The digital festival includes:
Creating a festival video archive;
Pre-presenting the authors participating in the 6th International Festival of Literature;
Retrospective of the 2015-2019 festivals.
The videos with Georgian subtitles will be published weekly on the online channels of the festival and the Writers' House: facebook, youtube.
Tbilisi International Festival of Literature, organized by the Writers' House, has been held annually since 2015 and is one of the most popular cultural events of the country.
The digital festival is financially supported by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Georgia.
