Organized by the Writers House and the Georgian Book Publishers and Booksellers Association and supported by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia, in March 2020, Georgia and Georgian Literature will be presented with national stands at book fairs of London (March 10-12), Leipzig (March 12-15) and Paris (March 20-23).
On March 20-23, 2020, Georgia will make its first national appearance with its stand at the Paris Book Fair (Salon du Livre). The Paris Book Fair has an important place among the European Book Fairs. About 3,000 authors meet with readers each year and present new books. Therefore, participating in Paris Book Fair for Georgia is the best opportunity to promote Georgian literature in Francophone countries. It will also help build relationships between Georgian and Francophone publishing houses and enter a new, different market for Georgia.
As part of the diverse literary program, events will be held both at the special thematic scenes of the Paris Book Fair and in the literary spaces of the city. Lana Ghoghoberidze, Besik Kharanauli, Levan Berdzenishvili, Lasha Bughadze, Giorgi Kekelidze, Basa Janikashvili, Davit Machavariani, Dato Lortkipanidze, Lasha Bakradze will participate in the meetings. Georgian publishers will have the opportunity to hold meetings at national stands and present their books to foreign publishers.
Georgian writers and representatives of literary and academic institutions will speak about various topics within the frames of the conferences: Besik Kharanauli, Levan Berdzenishvili, Lasha Bughadze. At the conference various planned activities within the frames of the project "Tbilisi Book Capital of 2021" will be announced. The event is supported by Tbilisi City Hall and UNESCO.
On March 10-12, 2020, Georgia will be presented with its stand for the second time at the London Book Fair, Georgian publishers will hold business meetings with foreign colleagues. At the stand the viewer will get acquainted with the new Georgian editions and get information about Georgian literature and culture. It is noteworthy that 2020 is the year of the Georgian Season in the UK. Many more events are planned this year.
On March 12-15, 2020, Georgia will be presented with the national stand at the Leipzig Book Fair. Georgian writers and illustrators, Ana Kordzaia-Samadashvili, David Machavariani (Kakadu), Lia Sturua, Salome Benidze, Dina Oganova and Teona Dolenjashvili will hold meetings at various literary and cultural institutions in Leipzig. Georgia will participate at Leipzig Book Fair for the ninth time.
