Shortlist of Iakob Gogebashvili Children’s and Youth Literary Award

The jury of Iakob Gogebashvili Children’s and Youth Literary Award announced the finalists.

Iakob Gogebashvili Children’s and Youth Literary Award was established in 2017 by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia, together with Writers’ House. The award takes place annually and its goal is to activate and encourage children’s writers and publishers. This year the award is granted for the second time.

Books issued in 2017, plays, which we recevied electronically (the contest organizers took into account the fact that publishers rarely print the plays) and innovative children’s projects were eligible to participate.  

Altogether, 42 books, 21 books reached the final.

The jury was unable to create a shortlist in the nomination best debut.

The Award Ceremony of Iakob Gogebashvili Children’s and Youth Literary Award will be held on October 26th, at Writers’ House.

At the award ceremony one more winner will be announced and will be awarded for contribution to children’s literature. In past years the award in this nomination was granted to Guram Petriashvili and Dodo Khimshiashvili-Vadachkoria.
